Opera Unite

operaUnite

So this is what Web 3.0 is going to be like. I’ve been hearing a bit of buzz about web 3.0 building on the current social networks. Well this is Opera Unite it’s currently in an alpha release. It’s a direct connection with other users, effectively cutting out the middle man that is web services.

I’m excited about the possibilities of collaboration and sharing that would come with a service like this. I can only begin to imagine the sorts of things that will come from this.

If anyone’s keen to try out the alpha with me, let me know.

Wolfram|Alpha; The future of the net?

wolframalpha

Wolfram|Alpha’s long-term goal is to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone. We aim to collect and curate all objective data; implement every known model, method, and algorithm; and make it possible to compute whatever can be computed about anything. Our goal is to build on the achievements of science and other systematizations of knowledge to provide a single source that can be relied on by everyone for definitive answers to factual queries.

Wolfram|Alpha aims to bring expert-level knowledge and capabilities to the broadest possible range of people—spanning all professions and education levels. Our goal is to accept completely free-form input, and to serve as a knowledge engine that generates powerful results and presents them with maximum clarity.

Wolfram|Alpha is an ambitious, long-term intellectual endeavor that we intend will deliver increasing capabilities over the years and decades to come. With a world-class team and participation from top outside experts in countless fields, our goal is to create something that will stand as a major milestone of 21st century intellectual achievement.

Try it out, this is the future of the net I’m sure. Finally the wealth of information on the net is becoming more accessible, as the information grows so must our ability to filter and sort it.

Twitter Updater?

I’ve just added a plugin ‘Twitter Updater’ which i’m hoping will keep me up to date on the twitter. All the cool kids are doing it. This post is a test in disguise as content. Shhhh… don’t tell anyone!

Let the delays roll…

Canon Gear

So i’m trying to spice up my posts with some images. I know it’s a crappy photo but all will be explained! At this point, i would like to say that i’m actually very excited about starting ’60 Days Downtime’. I didn’t want to announce that i would start it today becuase, well, i keep delaying it. And it’s a good thing i didn’t.

I was all set, i’ve been rolling on some great stuff for my VJing as part of TEAM ATTACK!!! and i have some other exciting projects in the works.

As part of 60 Days Downtime i’m going to make a flipbook of my desk over the 60 days. Great idea i think. So i set up my tripod today to take some shots of my desk. I will have to take my camera on and off so some of the shots may vary a little, but i have this thing called photoshop which will fix everything for me. Anyway, i set up the tripod to take the shot and took a test shot. Check the screen to see how it turend out and there it is. Error 99, magical. I turned it off and on, as the camera told me to, and took the shot again. It worked! but the second shot didn’t. I tested it again and again, but it’s boned. So i’ll have to delay the project yet again! It’s also why this post has a shitty photo taken on a phone.

Here’s to hoping Canon have a good service department that like my warranty…

Delays

So I keep putting off the start of 60 days downtime. I think it’s time I just dive in and see what happens. I have a few projects on the go which hopefully I can put in the book.

I had a meeting last night with William Goldwyn who wants to bring me on board for compositing an indi film. It’s got everything I want vampires AND warewolves in SPACE! I’ll have to learn lightwave and think back to the 3d classes I took at Uni.

I’m not going to give a rough start time because I don’t seem to stick to it with my own projects. But hopefully I get stuck into it soon.
