Stuck in a Groove / Phonovideo

I think I’m in love! This is one of the greatest VJ tools and performances i’ve seen! Would be pretty intense to play for more than 15 minutes though….

From Vimeo

Phonovideo is a VJ tool or visual instrument used to display animations in an analog way without the help of a computer. “Stuck in a Groove” is the first film made with this technique, it serves also as a demo for the technique .
In the future phonovideo should be used for live performances in cooperations with musicians, performancers and other artists.
The music for “Stuck in a Groove” was created by Richard Eigner/ Ritornell and is also contained on the album Ritornell – Golden Solitude (karaoke kalk cd 47 / lp 52)

LCD Soundsystem – Drunk Girls

LCD Soundsystem’s got a new video for their song Drunk Girls and it’s made by Spike Jonze.

It’s basically the live band trying to perform the song while a heap of people in creepy panda (i think) outfits try to molest them.

It’s kind of amazing.

The Black Keys – Next Girl

The Black Keys plead to have nothing to do with this and ask you to stop watching it… but their album is out on may 18… but they don’t like viral videos… but their text is on the video…

Wait… what?

Apollo 11 Saturn V Launch (HD) Camera E-8

Now this is some amazing slo-mo footage!

From Vimeo:
This clip is raw from Camera E-8 on the launch umbilical tower/mobile launch program of Apollo 11, July 16, 1969. This is an HD transfer from the 16mm original. Even more excellent footage is available on our DVDs at our website at spacecraftfilms.com

The camera is running at 500 fps, making the total clip of over 8 minutes represent just 30 seconds of actual time. Narration is provided by Mark Gray (me), Executive Producer for Spacecraft Films.

Earth Day: Give Earth a Hand

Check out this new ad for Greenpeace by Daniel Bird. It’s a pretty great concept with good execution.

The only bit that didn’t sit well with me was the drawn out ‘give earth a hand’ at the end. It was a little bit like they were hitting me over the head with the message yelling ‘do you get it? because it’s made of hands!’

Worth a look.
