Opera Unite

operaUnite

So this is what Web 3.0 is going to be like. I’ve been hearing a bit of buzz about web 3.0 building on the current social networks. Well this is Opera Unite it’s currently in an alpha release. It’s a direct connection with other users, effectively cutting out the middle man that is web services.

I’m excited about the possibilities of collaboration and sharing that would come with a service like this. I can only begin to imagine the sorts of things that will come from this.

If anyone’s keen to try out the alpha with me, let me know.

I tried it out, seems pretty good but I don’t see the big deal with using flickr, facebook and web things, couldn’t really care less if it’s on their servers. I trust their servers more than my computer, which I thought I killed this morning.

I like the fact that I can listen to my itunes library on any computer though, that’s wicked.

Spugh, we are massive, huge geeks. Just so you know.

    Yep, we’re huge nerds.

I just want to see what people do with Opera Unite. I didn’t care for twitter when it started, who wants to know what I had for breakfast? Apparently you Dean, apparently you.
